16 May Age-old old-age beauty tips
Sydney Fashion Week may have just finished, but if you’re still feeling inspired to glam up, then look no further than these beauty tips from the gorgeous ladies at Uniting Starrett Lodge.
These women featured in a 2017 calendar, and their pictures show that real beauty lasts longer than any of those flimsy dresses on the catwalk.
They share tips that have stood the test of time on the importance of healthy living, plenty of sleep and a few beauty basics.
‘Good clean living, with no smoking or drinking,’ advises Faith Say, 82. ‘I’m a gardener and I use lanolin on my hands, and maybe have a brandy when I’m rattled.’

‘I wash my face with a good soap and always use a good moisturiser by day and petroleum jelly on my face at night,’ says Sheila Brine, 82. She adds, ‘I like to wear a lipstick that matches my outfit.’
‘I use ponds cold cream morning and night,’ says Christine Robert, 78.

The calendar they featured in was an idea by the Uniting Starrett Lodge activities officer Vicki Sanchez. Funds from the calendar sales go towards the ‘bucket list’ project, which gives residents an opportunity to tick off something from their list.
