Uniting is inviting entries into the 2017 Uniting Seniors Memoir Competition
We have already received some incredible entries, ranging from the story of a young couple meeting each other’s parents after a square dance class, one of our residents reflecting on the annual ball, a woman who’s life changed after a car accident when she was only 14, a couple who married 75 years ago, and a businessman trying to buy underpants in Japan in the 1980s.
The competition is open to all residents of Uniting Aged Care or Independent Living Services, clients of one of our Uniting Home and Community Care services and Uniting Healthy Living for Seniors programs.
Winners and runners up will win one of three fantastic bucket list experiences, plus some great prizes for their Uniting service. There’s $1000 towards a wide choice of activities for the winner, and $500 each for the two runners-up, as well as prizes to support activities for your Uniting service. So share your favourite anecdote, or most poignant memory, and you might just tick off a bucket list experience you’ve always wanted to try.
Entries will be shortlisted by the ‘Starts at 60’ team and the finalists will have their work posted online, where the public will have the opportunity to vote.
The competition is open until 30 June 2017. Entries should be between 500 and 3000 words. You can send your entry by either email or post.
